This Cookie Policy explains how the Association of California Airports (“ACA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on calairports.org (the “Site”). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site’s operators. We also use related technologies such as local storage, pixels, and software development kits, which we refer to collectively as “cookies” in this policy.
Cookies may be “first-party” (set by ACA) or “third-party” (set by a service we use, such as our payment processor or analytics provider). They may be “session” cookies, which expire when you close your browser, or “persistent” cookies, which remain until they expire or you delete them.
2. Why we use cookies
We use cookies to operate and secure the Site, to keep you signed in, to remember your preferences and your cookie choices, to process payments, and, with your consent, to understand how the Site is used so we can improve it.
3. Categories of cookies we use
| Category | Purpose | Consent required |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Enable core functions such as signing in, managing member access, keeping the Site secure, and remembering your cookie choice. | No (always active) |
| Payment and fraud prevention | Support dues and event checkout and help our payment processor detect and prevent fraud. | No (needed to complete a payment) |
| Analytics and performance | Help us understand how visitors use the Site through usage metrics, heatmaps, and anonymized session replay. | Yes (loads only after you accept) |
4. Cookies used on this Site
The specific cookies below may change as we update the Site. Durations are approximate and are set by the relevant provider.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Type / duration |
|---|---|---|---|
aca_cookie_consent | ACA (first-party) | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies so we do not ask on every visit. | Persistent / 1 year |
wordpress_logged_in_*, wp-settings-* | WordPress (first-party) | Keep you signed in and remember display preferences within the member area. | Session and persistent |
| Restrict Content Pro session | ACA membership platform (first-party) | Manages member access and restricted content. | Session |
__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Stripe (third-party) | Fraud prevention during dues and event checkout. | Persistent (up to 1 year) and session |
_clck, _clsk, CLID | Microsoft Clarity (third-party) | Analytics, heatmaps, and anonymized session replay. Loaded only after you accept analytics cookies. | Persistent (up to 1 year) and session |
5. Analytics with your consent
When you accept analytics cookies, we use Microsoft Clarity to measure how the Site is used through metrics, heatmaps, and session replays that are configured to mask personal information. Clarity is provided by Microsoft, which processes this data under its own privacy terms. If you decline, these cookies are not set and Clarity does not run.
6. Managing your choices
- Cookie banner. The first time you visit, our banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies. Analytics load only if you accept.
- Changing your choice. To change your decision later, clear the
aca_cookie_consentcookie in your browser and reload the Site. The banner will appear again so you can choose. - Browser controls. Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may cause parts of the Site, including sign-in and checkout, to stop working properly.
7. Do Not Track
Because there is no common industry standard for how to respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. We instead give you a direct choice through our cookie banner.
8. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our Site and the tools we use change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above.
9. Contact us
Questions about our use of cookies can be sent through our Contact page or to info@calairports.org.
